Protecting medical students and physicians with DACA status
The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program’s positive impact has already been felt in medicine and our nation’s health care workforce depends on the care provided by physicians and medical students with DACA status.
Our stance
An estimated 27,000 health care workers and support staff depend on DACA for their authorization to work in the United States. We continue to work to ensure members of the health care workforce approved for DACA are able to continue employment, education, training and research in the health professions
Over 60 medical schools
consider applicants with DACA status.
DACA could add 5,400 physicians
to the U.S. health system in the next decade.
