The Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB) was a panel that put significant health care payment and policy decisions in the hands of an unelected body with far too little accountability. In early 2018 Congress successfully passed legislation to repeal the IPAB, ending almost a decade-long fight to protect patients from harmful cuts.

Our effort
In February 2018, Congress officially repealed IPAB, thanks in large part to the consistent drumbeat of letters, testimonies and insights they received from physicians like you. Now, physicians and policymakers can focus on long-term efforts to improve care quality and health outcomes while making Medicare more sustainable.
